A Game Changer – The Else Phone

November 27, 2009

We love the iPhone and Blackberry, but the coolest new smart phone appears to be straight from the future. The new Else, expected to debut during Q2 2010, raises the user interface bar for all smart phones.

Take a look at the video and you will see a one-handed, one-thumb radial menu for navigation. Press once and navigate by moving your thumb up and down.

Access Linux operating system, 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen with 854 x 480 pixels of resolution, a proximity sensor, ambient light, screen rotation, a 5 mega pixel camera, TI OMAP 3430 processor, GPS, micro USB, Bluetooth, WiFi and a 1450 mAh lithium ion battery. For networking, the device is compatible with triband UMTS/HSDPA as well as quadband GSM/EDGE.

Very cool, but I’m wondering if they have a left handed model?

They may be working on a way to rotate the handset for lefties. They probably don’t want to release too much info before launch. It’s just nice to see something fresh even if it is an uphill battle to break into the market.
