Breaking Down Global Language Barriers

Google recently indicated that mobile represents its greatest area of growth for 2010. This is because mobile smart phones are relatively untapped for click through ads. Mobile phones could easily double, triple and quadruple Google’s revenue during this decade.

The global multilingual market is equally untapped. Although English is the 2nd most popular language in the world, it is spoken by only 13.5% of the global population. The most spoken languages in the world, in order of popularity, are Chinese, English, Hindi Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Bengali, Portuguese, Japanese, French and German.

Marrying handheld smart phones to multilingual technology could represent a tenfold, or greater, growth opportunity for multilingual advertising.
