Walmart Goes Green

Wal-Mart has experimented with wind turbines and solar panels at some Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores. Signaling a big commitment to green operations, Lee Scott, chairman of Wal-Mart’s executive committee said Monday that the world’s largest retailer would be constructing new stores using recyclable materials. Vilified by environmentalists for its carbon footprint, Wal-Mart has been praised recently by some in the green community for commitments to use 100% renewable energy, generating zero waste at its stores and requiring suppliers to measure and report their greenhouse gas output.
