Will Hollywood Set A New Summer Box Office Record?

May 7, 2010

During each of the last four summers, Hollywood sold more than $4 billion dollars worth of tickets. The current record of just under $4.2 billion was set last year. With this summer’s line up of blockbusters, there is a good chance of a new record.

The fun began today with release of Iron Man 2, followed by nearly 100 more films including remakes of The Karate Kid and The A-Team. Also expected to perform well at the box office, are Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, Robin Hood with Russell Crowe and Sex and the City 2. Also out this summer is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with Jake Gyllenhaal; Shrek Forever After; Toy Story 3, the 3rd Twilight saga, Eclipse; Just Wright starring Queen Latifah; Letters to Juliet with Amanda Seyfried; Saturday Night Live spin-off MacGruber and Get Him to the Greek starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill.
