Simulated 520 Day Mission To Mars
An international team of researchers climbed into a set of windowless steel capsules today to launch a 520-day simulation of a flight to Mars. The six-member international crew includes three people from Russia and one each from France, Italy and China. The simulation is operated by the Moscow-based Institute for Medical and Biological Problems in cooperation with the European Space Agency and China’s space training center. This experiment should replicate many aspects of a real journey to Mars, except for weightlessness.
