Stopping Out Of School

September 27, 2010

Today at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco, Peter Thiel announced a program to award 20 grants of $100,000 each to young people under the age of 20 to stop out of school and learn about entrepreneurship. It’s about time! It is not coincidence that many founders of tech companies dropped out of college. Thiel is not advocating dropping out of school – just taking a break for 2 years to learn some practical things not taught in most U.S. schools.

This is a great idea and I hope is spreads across the country.  Angels, VCs, hedge fund managers and successful founders, we hope you follow Peter Thiel’s lead and implement similar programs.
